At Unmute, our mission is to assess and spotlight the current extent of abuse and hostility in the Indian workplace and to develop an index to spotlight whitespaces, aimed at preventing gender-based violence. This Privacy Policy outlines our methods for collecting, using, securing, and sharing information gathered through our initiatives.
Data Collection and Use
Unmute collects data exclusively through surveys powered by Supabase for secure cloud hosting. We focus exclusively on collecting non-identifiable data concerning workplace experiences from adult participants within India. No personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, phone numbers, or addresses is collected.
Purpose of Data Collection
The data collected is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- To assess the quantum of abuse/hostility in the workplace across various industries in India.
- To generate aggregated and anonymised reports that help in understanding and addressing the patterns of abuse.
- To inform policy and advocacy regarding PoSH implementation.
- To inform on training tools and their development.
Non-Identifiable Data Collection
To protect anonymity and ensure the privacy of our respondents, all data collected is non-traceable and cannot be linked back to any individual. The form has been developed by Unmute and we are under no obligation to share the data with anyone except for the listed purposes.
Data Storage and Security
We have built Unmute.Now on secure, industry-leading platforms which maintain SOC 2 certifications, providing a strong foundation.
Local Processing
Once data is collected, it is processed on local computers within India by Unmute's team, allowing us to conduct detailed analysis while maintaining the highest data integrity and security levels.
Ensuring Anonymity
The data we collect is stored in a secure cloud environment. We intentionally avoid collecting IP addresses or any personally identifiable information to keep your responses anonymous. We use Google Analytics to track the number of unique visitors to our website. We provide assurances that responses cannot be used to trace back to any individual, directly or indirectly.
Data Retention
The data is retained for a period of 90 days, during which we ensure that the data remains anonymous and is used thereafter. We ensure that the data cannot be traced back to any individual directly.
Participant Rights
Since we do not collect any personally identifiable information, we cannot identify and delete any stories submitted by participants unless you share the details with us again via email, after which we can identify and delete your email address from our database.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
Unmute reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the updated policy; however, none of the changes will be applied post facto.
